Huawei’s new nova 2i offers quad cameras and massive Fullview screen for RM1,299
While dual camera smartphones are all the rage in the market, Huawei’s new midrange nova 2i aims to pip everyone to the post as it comes with dual cameras on both its front and rear; if you’re keeping count, this means that they’ve effectively crammed in a quartet of cameras into one phone. The front comes with a front facing 13-MP camera with an F/2.0 aperture paired with a 2-MP snapper while the rear integrates a 16-MP snapper that also comes paired with a 2-MP snapper.
Both the front and rear use the secondary 2-MP camera for capturing depth detail, allowing users to capture nifty depth-of-field bokeh shots akin to shots taken from professional cameras albeit with the added advantage that you can dial in the depth detail even after you take the shot. The front selfie camera array also has a dedicated selfie flash for better selfies under lower light conditions. This would be one of the first phones that come with cameras on both the front and the rear in the market.
Another first for the nova 2i is that it is the first Huawei phone to come with a huge 5.99-inch nigh edge-to-edge IPS LCD FullView display which has an impressive 83% screen-to-body ratio which takes up most of the front of the phone in terms of real estate and an 18:9 aspect ratio, making it longishly rectangular in appearance. The screen resolution is rather respectable too with an impressive 2,160 x 1080 pixel resolution and a crisp 407ppi.
Under the hood, the nova 2i runs Android Nougat 7.0 with their latest EMUI 5.1 user interface overlaid on it, a respectable Kirin 659 workhorse octacore processor, 4GB RAM and 64GB of expandable storage. A 3,340mAh battery with fast charging support via a bundled 5V/2A charger keeps it going for quite awhile.
Taken on its own, the nova 2i is an impressive specced phone as midrange workhorses go with a 5.99-inch FHD+ display, a solid workhorse processor and dual cameras on both the front and rear but what elevates it from impressive to astounding is that Huawei has priced the nova 2i at a mind boggling RM1,299 which is a good deal lower than many other midrange phones in the market.
The nova 2i will hit the market on 13 October 2017 in your choice of Graphite Black, Prestige Gold and Aurora Blue at Huawei experience stores and Display Zones nationwide. While stocks last, Huawei is also tossing in a free premium gift pack that throws in an over-ear headphone, a selfie stick and a smartphone ring holder on the house worth RM499.
