LG W7 OLED launch

LG showcased their latest innovations in tech at their 2017 Roadshow at Pavilion mall in downtown Kuala Lumpur today. An interesting array of technologies was on show such as their latest line-up of Smart Inverter Linear Refrigerators, washing machines and more though the crown jewel of the show that took pride of place was their one of the thinnest TVs that we have ever seen and we’ve seen plenty – the 65-inch LG W7 OLED TV.

When you look at it from the side, it’s less than the thickness of a picture frame or for the matter less than a typical magazine at 3.8mm. This level of thinness is impressive indeed and it’s so slim that a conventional TV mount simply won’t work; the gap is so minimal that you need a series of magnetic brackets to mount it to a wall.

Once emplaced, it quite literally like a ‘picture-on-a-wall’, albeit one that displays lush 4K imagery on an OLED panel for deeply luscious blacks.

The more astute tech pundits will wonder where all of the rest of the hardware goes. A slim, nigh invisible cable leads down to a box that contains all the gubbins and also does double duty as a soundbar with Dolby Atmos support along with all the connections for the W7 OLED TV itself. You notably get a quartet of HDMI inputs, a trio of USB ports, an Ethernet cable, an Optical cable, among others. If this warms the cockles of your heart, the W7 OLED can be preordered for the princely sum of RM39,999 during the LG roadshow if you’re one of the first ten buyers. You’ll also get a free travel voucher worth RM2,000 thrown in for good measure. After of the roadshow, it retails for RM44,999.

Also showcased at the roadshow was their LG InstaView Door-in-Door fridge that answers that perennial question that everyone who has ever owned a fridge will ask “What’s in the fridge?” The solution? The LG InstaView has a special 33-inch slab of opaque tinted glass that becomes transparent when you knock on it with a firm rap, allowing you to see what’s inside before popping the door open.

To ensure things remain cool, the fridge also has a Smart InstaView inverter linear compressor that lowers temperature fluctuations within the fridge itself to ensure that food stays fresher longer. The LG Instaview Door-in-Door fridge retails for RM10,999 but for the duration of the roadshow, you can acquire it for RM7,999.
