Samsung Developer Day hackathon will see UTAR and Taylor’s University students creating better foldable apps to win RM78,000 in prizes
Last month, Samsung Malaysia shared how they and their brand partners such as AmBank, FamilyMart, Maxis and more collaborated to create optimised apps for their leading Galaxy Z series to take full advantage of its foldable form factor. Now, they’re leading the charge with a Samsung Developer Day hackathon which will take place from 14 to 15th June 2023 at RexKL.
What is the Samsung Developer Day hackathon about?.
At the Samsung Developer Day hackathon, students from Taylor’s University and Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman (UTAR) will dig in and pitch ideas to enhance and enrich the app UI/UX for the Galaxy Z Fold and Galaxy Z Flip series as well as other mainstream foldable smartphones in Malaysia.
The Samsung Developer Day hackathon will see multiple teams pitch their ideas and their proposed applications as well as how they function in the real world and how it would benefit users with 3 teams selected on each of the 2 days of the event for a total of 6 winning teams. The winners get to score Samsung products worth up to a whopping RM39,188 which also includes the sleek Galaxy Z Flip4, their flagship Galaxy Tab S8 tablet and the Galaxy Watch5 Pro smartwatch.
“At Samsung, we are passionate about bringing relevant mobile innovation to consumers, so it made sense for us to get Gen Z involved in creating new ideas and experiences for the Galaxy Z that are relatable to them. This is also in line with our ESG mission to empower young Malaysian talent to make waves in the tech space. We look forward to inspiring ideas with potential to bring them to market,” commented KM Liew, Vice President & Head of Mobile eXperience, Samsung Malaysia Electronics.
