Samsung launches Galaxy Buds wireless earbuds at Unpacked 2019
Arriving alongside the Galaxy Fold and Galaxy S10 series at Unpacked 2019 were a slew of wearables that include two smartwatches, the Galaxy Watch Active and the Galaxy Fit along with one wireless wearable – the Galaxy Buds.
Much like the Gear IconX that arrived last year in mid-2018, the Galaxy Buds consist of a pair of wireless earbuds that pair up with your phone wirelessly via Bluetooth V3.0 to let you play tunes and take calls. Each earbud offers about 6 hours of usage when in use off an internal 58mAh battery and recharging it is simply a matter of placing it back in its lozenge-shaped dock which hosts a larger 252mAh battery to juice up the Galaxy Buds when you’re out and about.
What makes things interesting though is that the Galaxy Buds lozenge-shaped storage casing supports Qi wireless charging and placing it on the backplate of a Galaxy S10 series phone means you can also charge it in the field without having to bring around another set of cables and whatnot.
The Galaxy Buds also have Bixby support, allowing you to couch requests via the earbuds to Samsung’s virtual assistant and get replies without having to whip your phone out, which is handy indeed.
The Galaxy Buds come in three colours, white, black and a matching shade of Canary Yellow much like what the Galaxy S10e’s exclusive colour scheme looks like and will retail for US$129 which is about RM524. It will ship in Malaysia alongside the new Galaxy S10 series as a preorder special bonus with preorders starting tomorrow on 22 February 2019.
