The uber powerful HONOR View20 priced at RM1,999 and coming to Malaysia
As a brand, HONOR has certainly been making waves and their latest phone the View20 that just made its debut in Paris a scant few hours ago is sure to get tongues wagging and wallets opening in a fairly swift fashion as it comes with flagship grade specs and several other interesting upgrades that were once the exclusive province of flagships like the Mate 20 and the Galaxy Note9. The best part? There’s not long to wait as the phone will be available for sale in Malaysia this coming Saturday 26 January.
As far as specifications and design go, the HONOR View20 is armed to the proverbial teeth. Externally, the phone comes with a novel finish that incorporates nanolithography to engrave stylised chevrons on the back with a reflective finish comes in four different colours – Midnight Black, Sapphire Blue, Phantom Red and Phantom Blue – though only three colours will be making their way to Malaysia.
The chassis itself, hewn of the customary metal and glass is but 8.3mm thin. This time around, HONOR is also teaming up with garment designers Moschino to create a aesthetically unique Moschino HONOR View20 which bears a phone case featuring the iconic Moschino Teddy Bear while the backplate comes in either Phantom Blue or Red though only the Phantom Blue colour variant will be coming to Malaysia for now.
Up front, the View20 has a massive 6.4-inch FHD+ display with a 4.5mm small punchhole integrated into it to hide the front-facing 25-MP selfie camera so as to retain a massive 91.8% screen-to-body ratio. Under the hood, the phone comes with a current-gen Kirin 980 octacore processor with a dual Neural Processing Unit (NPU) for AI processing functions in regards to the camera and other phone settings.
HONOR has also added a built-in liquid cooling system to keep things chill under heavy workloads. This high-end chip is the same powering last year’s P20 series and Mate 20 series phones from Huawei so it has plenty of punch to offer. Storage options fall into two mainline variants – a 6GB RAM + 128GB storage version and a higher end 8GB RAM + 256GB storage variant.
The rear dual camera array of the View20 integrates a massive 48-MP camera that uses a Sony IMX586 sensor paired up with a secondary 3D camera used for augmented reality applications. The primary 48-MP camera takes advantage of the Kirin 980’s NPU, much like what Huawei’s P20 and Mate 20 does to intelligently pick the right settings for a shot to render better results. The front camera nestles within a punchhole under the display and integrates a 25-MP sensor.
In a first for HONOR, the phone will have a unique free HONOR Guard skin for Fortnite. It is also capable of entering a desktop-style PC Mode much like what the Mate 20 series and Galaxy Note9 is capable of with the provision of a HDMI cable. Keeping the whole affair powered is a 4,000mAh battery juiced via a USB Type C port at the base of the phone.
In Malaysia, the mainline variant of the HONOR View20 will retail for RM1,999 in your choice of Midnight Black and Sapphire Blue for the 6GB RAM + 128GB storage version. The higher end variant with 8GB RAM and 256GB of storage will retail for RM2,499 in Phantom Blue. The HONOR View20 will be available for purchase at their two-day roadshow at the ground floor of Highstreet@ One Utama Shopping Centre from 26 to 27 January 2019.
If you are one of the first 200 customers to purchase either storage variant of the View20, you are entitled to an HONOR Watch Magic worth RM599 on the house as well as a host of other free gifts that include a plush looking backpack too with ao total value of RM700 inclusive of the HONOR Watch Magic.
