realme P4 Power 5G Review – Tough Midrange Marvel with Massive 10,001mAh battery tested

In the neverending pursuit of greater battery life in smartphones, realme has given a shot across the proverbial bow to the competition. Rather than mincing about with tiny baby steps, they’ve gone all the way and slapped in an absolutely massive 10,001mAh battery into their latest phone, the P4 Power 5G.

And that’s just getting started as it has a number of appealing features baked in its design for gamers and power users alike that we tested thanks to a review sample issued ahead of its official Malaysia launch.

realme P4 Power 5G Review front

Here’s our realme P4 Power 5G review where we share if their latest phone really is a titan in endurance.

realme P4 Power 5G Review – Build and Design

At a glance, it would be difficult distinguish the realme P4 Power 5G out from the plethora of phones in the market but there’s more than meets the eye here as it is the world’s first 10,001mAh phone which is easily double the capacity of even the priciest flagship phones currently in the market as of 2026.

What makes it an impressive triumph of engineering is that realme has managed to keep the phone slim at just 9.08mm even with such a massive battery while still keeping the weight to a decent 216g.

In Malaysia, the phone is available in either a shade of orange or in the case of our realme P4 Power 5G review sample, a safe shade of silver complemented by rounded corners, a 2.5D AMOLED display and curved sides to lend it some measure of comfort when held one-handed.

The backplate is done up in a brushed metal finish with a rear dual camera setup emplaced in a raised square-shaped camera module  in the upper left.

realme P4 Power 5G Review base

Alongside the camera housing are printed motifs that suggest circuitry and additional screws but which are otherwise cosmetic and don’t affect its functionality. There’s no wireless charging on offer here to keep costs down so the lower portion of the backplate is otherwise unremarkable.

The left and top sides of the phone lack any distinguishing features with the right side hosting a power button and volume rocker. A glance at the base reveals the typical configuration of a SIM card tray, a USB-C port and a grille for the mono speaker.

Belying its premium looks, the realme P4 Power 5G unfortunately only packs a single speaker, though you have the option to crank it up to 400% volume if needed.

realme P4 Power 5G Review anled

Up front, our realme P4 Power 5G review sample features a relatively large 6.8-inch FHD+ AMOLED display with curved sides that meet the frame.

Of note is a 100% DCI-P3 colour gamut, 6,500 nits peak brightness and a smooth 144Hz refresh rate. Interestingly, realme has pre-applied a screen protector onto the display to protect it from scratches, allowing you to use it straight out of the box.

Aesthetics aside, the phone is built tough with what realme refers to as ArmorShell protection which involves reinforced corners, a toughened aluminium chassis and a series of small internal ‘airbags’ that protect against impacts.

The screen is also protected by an unknown grade of Corning Gorilla Glass for good measure. Even better, the entire phone gets an IP66, IP68 and IP69 dust and water resistance rating as well as encounters with high pressure jets of water. Combined, this lends the realme P4 Power 5G exceptional durability for day to day use.

To further add to its value, realme has also thrown in a free transparent TPU case and a charger along with the obligatory USB-C cable, warranty paperwork and SIM eject pin.

As phones go, the realme P4 Power 5G does look and feel rather premium, also helped in part by its heft on account of its massive battery which are among the largest batteries currently available in a mainstream smartphone and easily the largest in the Malaysia market.

realme P4 Power 5G review 2

After using it as a primary phone for the past week or so, our realme P4 Power 5G review sample still looked in good condition with no scratches on the backplate and an otherwise pristine front display though your mileage will vary of course depending on your lifestyle.

realme P4 Power 5G review – Performance and Benchmarks

In terms of specifications, our realme P4 Power 5G review sample comes with specifications that put it squarely as a midrange phone. You get a Dimensity 7400 Ultra 5G processor that’s primarily intended for cost conscious devices running Android 16 with realme UI 7.0.

This is paired with 8GB LPDDR4X RAM and up to 10GB of virtual RAM assigned off the non-expandable 256GB UFS 3.1 storage. One thing to note is that our review sample slightly differs from units intended for Malaysia and has less RAM.

Units for sale in Malaysia will get 12GB LPDDR4X RAM but are otherwise similar. This minor disparity in RAM will affect some benchmarks and you’ll encounter better results with retail units.

Additional features include an 4613mm² AirFlow vapour chamber along with a large 13743mm² sheet for more efficient heat dissipation from critical areas. Here’s how our realme P4 Power 5G review sample stacks up on paper:

In terms of overall single, multicore, graphics and AI performance, the Dimensity 7400 Ultra chipset in our realme P4 Power 5G review sample performs comparably with a slight edge over the Qualcomm Snapdragon 7s Gen 4 chipset which has a similar emphasis on power efficiency and performance.

Interestingly, the phone was unable to complete the Solar Bay benchmarks, likely due to the lack of hardware ray tracing support. This does not affect its compatibility with games on the Google Play store and it was able to run all the usuals from e-sports titles like League of Legends to more demanding games like Wuthering Waves and Genshin Impact on default settings without too much tinkering needed.

For more mundane tasks, the phone handled app switching, multiple open browser tabs on Chrome and was able to comfortably handle editing on CapCut without issue. The phone also offers the usual array of AI features including Circle to Search with Google and Google Gemini which keeps it competitive. Realme also offers a reasonable 3 years of OS and 4 years of security updates which ensures a decent amount of longevity for the phone.

The provided screen is bright enough for daylight use, offers 100% DCI-P3 colour gamut in Vivid mode which will endear it to content creators and has a smooth 144Hz refresh rate.

realme P4 Power 5G Review screen

Perhaps the only quibble here is the single mono speaker at the base. There’s understandably no sound staging by dint of its nature as a mono speaker but its ability to crank up the volume to 400% means that you’re able to share your tastes in music, or lack thereof with everyone within a dozen paces in a pinch. At maximum volume, the speaker is loud while overall detail and bass are middling at best.

The provision of a large graphite sheet and heat sink also contributed to its relative stability in stress tests with 3D Mark’s Steel Nomad Light Stress Test offering a 414 point best loop score, 409 lowest loop score and 98.8% stability with heat kept between 38°C and 39°C which is slightly warm to the touch but not hot enough that you’ll scald your fingers which is important for extended gaming sessions.

On that note, the realme P4 Power 5G supports bypass charging, which allows you to plug the phone in and directly power the hardware and circumvent juicing the battery which enhances long-term battery health.

Beyond its other specifications, the massive Silicon Carbon battery is an impressive triumph of technology not only on account of its sheer capacity but its ability to sustain its battery health over its lifetime.

According to realme, the 10,001mAh battery is quoted to last for 1,650 full charging cycles and is is rated to retain over 80% battery health over the course of 8 years. To further enhance its longevity, the realme P4 Power 5G integrates what they refer to as an AI Charging Algorithm and what realme refers to as a ‘Silicon Aging Algorithm’ that optimises power management and reduces battery aging over its service life.

The combination of a power efficient Dimensity 7400 Ultra 5G processor, a modest FHD+ AMOLED display and the mammoth 10,001mAh battery mean the realme P4 Power 5G is easily able to offer the best battery life we’ve ever seen and tested in a phone. It was able to offer two full days of battery life verging on three with normal usage.

With web browsing, liberal social media use, a few minutes worth of phone calls, a good couple of hours of doomscrolling on TikTok and working on CapCut video edits, along with a combination of WiFi and data, it ploughed through with about 70% on day one, about 35% on day two and needed a top up by day three.

Fortunately, the phone supports fast 80W SuperVOOC wired charging and it also has reverse wired charging to juice other devices too, making it as much of a power bank as it is a phone. With the provided charger, the phone was able to snag a 50% charge in about 40 minutes which is decent seeing its sheer size and to full in about an hour and 25 minutes.

This combination of features makes the realme P4 Power 5G a surprisingly effective everyday workhorse for most casual users while offering the best battery life currently available in a smartphone.

realme P4 Power 5G Review – Cameras

The realme P4 Power 5G has a dual camera setup on the rear that consists of a primary 50MP f/1.8 main camera that uses a premium Sony IMX882 sensor and that features optical image stabilisation (OIS). The IMX882 sees service in many other midrange and sub-flagship phones primarily for dedicated telephoto camera setups though the phone itself lacks any telephoto capabilities and relies on in-sensor cropping for zoom.

This is paired with an 8MP f.2.2 ultra wide angle camera. This rear camera setup allows for 2x lossless zoom by cropping from the main 50MP sensor and up to 20x digital zoom with the ability to capture up to 4K@30fps video at up to 10x digital zoom.

realme P4 Power 5G Review camera front

Up front, you have a single 16MP camera for selfies that also allows for up to 1080p@30fps video capture.

When put to the test, the rear camera offers the best results for images if you keep to under 2X zoom and well lit scenarios. If you stick to daylight, you’ll get good dynamic range colour and detail for images with consistent results from the ultrawide and main camera.

Beyond 2x zoom, stills remain acceptable out to 10X and proves to be a capable affair for a midrange phone that is able to adequately tackle the usual subjects for Malaysians – food, scenery, friends and family.

In low light conditions, the 8MP ultrawide angle camera has a two-second shutter lag and offers results that are noticeably grainier and dimmer than the main camera.

Shots from the main camera require a one-second shutter lag in low light before you capture an image. Results are serviceable for social media use but aren’t stellar. The front selfie camera also requires good lighting and steady hands to yield decent results.

Captured 4K@30fps videos are serviceable for normal users though content creators will  require a more capable camera setup.

If you keep your expectations modest and your subjects in mostly daylight, the cameras on the realme P4 Power 5G are able to yield decent results though serious content creators may require more powerful setups like their GT 8 Pro.

Should you buy the realme P4 Power 5G?

The realme P4 Power 5G features a large and vibrant AMOLED display, good performance for everyday usage, a respectable IP69 dust and water resistance rating and the best battery life in the market on account of its massive 10,001mAh battery. However, it has middling camera performance and lacks wireless charging though these aren’t deal breakers by any means seeing its intended role as a midrange phone with exceptional endurance.

Hitech Century Silver award

Quibbles aside, the realme P4 Power 5G’s array of features make it a solid choice for those who prioritise battery life and those on the road often and far away from a wall charger. At the time of writing, we can’t quite comment on its value proposition but realme states that the phone will cost below RM2,000 which puts it on squarely in midrange territory. Still, if you rquire a phone with the best battery life currently possible, the realme P4 Power 5G is it.
