Acer launches Swift series of laptops and more
Acer today took the wraps off the ultra slim Swift 7 ultraportable, the posh looking Swift 3 as well as the Spin 5 and Predator Z1 gaming monitor in a posh do in uptown Kuala Lumpur.
The Swift 7 is available for sale on 11street Malaysia and authorised Acer dealers nationwide from 23 November onwards for RM4,999. The Acer Swift 3 is also available immediately nationwide for RM2,899. The Acer Spin 5 is available for RM2,199 nationwide at all the usual channels and the Predator Z1 monitor will be available sometime in mid-December 2016 for RM2,999. Acer also launched a compact all-in-one dubbed the Aspire C22 that is 8mm thin and offers a tiltable 21.5-inch display along with an Intel Core i3 processor for RM2,099 from 21 November onwards at all authorised retailers.

Acer Swift 7
Acer’s Swift 7 ultraportable is one of their slimmest laptops ever made and is currently one of the sveltest rigs in the market. Crammed into an all-metal casing that’s under 1CM thin – it’s 9.98mm actually – is a 13.3-inch Full HD display, an Intel Core i5-7Y54 1.2GHz processor, 8GB RAM, Intel HD 615 graphics and a 256GB SSD. The built-in battery offers 9 hours of battery life with the whole affair weighing an ultra light 1.1kg. The display is also sheathed in tough fifth gen Corning Gorilla Glass that’s able to survive a 1.5 metre drop to the deck. Of note is the addition of Acer’s TruHarmony tech with Dolby Audio Premium speakers that are optimised for music, movie watching and superior sound quality for other content too including gaming.
Acer is also bundling a bespoke Acer Premium Service suite that allows buyers to have a free health check and physical cleaning service on the house at any Acer service centre, a swift 1-day turnaround time if you need to send it in for repairs and a priority lane that bypasses the usual queue – all this comes free during the warranty period. The Swift 7 comes in a two-toned matte black and burnished gold finish for RM4,999.
Acer Swift 3
The swanky looking Acer Swift 3 is a posh looker, with an all-metal finish that they’ve dubbed as Luxury Gold and comes with either a burnished gold finish or a silver finish. The Acer Swift 3 sports a 14-inch 1080P IPS LCD, comes with a Intel Core i5-6200U 2.3GHz dual-core processor running Windows 10 Home paired with 4GB RAM and Intel HD Graphics 5500. Storage needs are handled by a nippy 256GB SSD. The whole affair is powered by a 4-cell 3,220mAh battery that offers about ten hours of battery life with the whole affair crammed into a casing that is 17.8mm thin and weighs 1.5kg. The notebook also has their True Harmony tech beefing up their speakers for better audio quality. The Swift 3, also comes in silver on top of their signature Luxury Gold finish and retails for RM2,899.
Spin 5
The Acer Spin 5 is an interesting convertible with a 360-degree hinge that lets you flip the 13.3-inch 1080P touchscreen around and about to convert it from a laptop into a tablet on demand. You can also prop it up in a tent-style mode to turn it into a display of sorts for movie watching duties. The rest of the hardware consists of an Intel Inside Core i3-6100U 2.3GHz dual-core processor, 4GB RAM, Intel HD graphics 520 and a 128GB SSD crammed into a casing that’s 20.3mm thin and weighs 1.6kg. The built-in 3,220mAh battery offers ten hours of battery life. The Spin 5 comes in matte black for RM2,199.
Predator Z271T gaming monitor
The 27-inch Full HD, 144Hz curved display is optimised for gaming duties. It has a 1000:1 contrast ratio with 4ms response time and 300 cd/m2 brightness and a wide 178-degree viewing angle. A gentle 1800r curvature offers an immersive view while Tobii eye tracking allows for additional eye-tracking functionality for certain games like ‘The Division. The monitor also has support for NVIDIA’s G-SYNC tech for smoother footage when gaming onscreen and has a pair of 2W speakers built-in into the chassis. The Predator Z1 monitor will arrive mid-December 2016 for RM2,999.
The Acer Aspire C22 was a surprise last minute addition to the launch line-up and comes with a vertically tiltable 21.5-inch Full HD display that has an ultra thin 8mm form factor, their TrueHarmony tech-enabled stereo speakers as well as a solid computing package to make it a decent rig for casual work. The C22 integrates an Intel Core i3-6100U processor, 4GB RAM and a 500GB hard disk. Connectivity is sorted out with Wi-Fi A/C, two USB 3.0 ports, two USB 2.0 ports, an Ethernet port and a card reader.
The C22 retails for RM2,099. It also comes with a larger-sized variant dubbed the C24 with a bigger display 23.8-inch display though the larger variant has no price or release date as yet.
