Dragon Quest XI: Echoes of an Elusive Age coming to PS4 and PC in September 2018
JRPG gaming grognards who know their stuff treat the name Dragon Quest with a certain amount of reverence on account of its pedigree that stretches way back to 1986. While it made its initial debut in its native Japanese last year, the English version of Dragon Quest XI: Echoes of an Elusive Age is making its way to the PC via Steam and the PlayStation 4 this coming September 4 2018.
For the uninitiated, Dragon Quest XI continues the gaming style of its predecessors as it’s an unabashed dungeon romp which has you thumping hostiles and looting stuff to level up in the world of Lotozetasia. While it sounds intimidating seeing as this is the eleventh installment of the series, it’s narratively sturdy enough to stand on its own legs without having to dig much into the rich lore of the Dragon Quest series.
Dragon Quest XI: Echoes of an Elusive Age for the PS4 uses the Unreal Engine 4 and will feature English voiced dialogue and text as well as a dedicated hard core mode that ramps up the difficulty if you have a taste for pain. Other refinements for the English release include a revamped user interface, a first person camera mode so you can admire the monsters attempting to nibble your face off in an up-close and personal fashion and, most important of all, a dash function so you can get about faster.
The game will be available this September 4 for RM199 if you’re buying a digital copy and RM209 if you’re buying a disc version. It will retail for RM249 on Steam.
