New 2024 Gigabyte Aorus 17X and 16X gaming laptops launched in Malaysia priced from RM7,119
Component and laptop purveyor Gigabyte have just launched their latest AI-enabled gaming laptops dubbed the Gigabyte Aorus 17X and Aorus 16X in Malaysia that pack the latest 14th Gen Intel Core processors, NVIDIA 40 series graphics and their own AI Nexus.
For the uninitiated, Gigabyte’s AI Nexus is able to feature an AI Boost feature powered by Microsoft Azure AI to optimise CPU, GPU and fan settings to get up to 9% improvements in FPS for gaming. It is also able to manage fan speeds too.
AI Nexus also offers an AI Generator that leverages Invoke AI and to generate AI images. Another feature that AI Nexus offers is what they refer to as an AI Power Gear mode that is capable of optimising battery life to extend battery life. On paper, AI Power Gear is able to eke out an additional 40 minutes on the Aorus 17X which is quite a feat for a gaming laptop.
On top of their own AI Nexus baked in, the Gigabyte Aorus 17X and 16X also notably feature a dedicated Microsoft CoPilot key to summon Microsoft’s AI.
Gigabyte Aorus 17X Specs and Price
The Gigabyte Aorus 17X is their premier gaming laptop and comes in only one configuration for the Malaysia market. You get a 17.3-inch QHD (2,560 x 1,440 pixels) display with a 240hz refresh rate, a 3ms response time, a quoted 300 nits peak brightness and NVIDIA G-SYNC support. Content creators will also appreciate the fact that the display has a traditional, gaming-optimised 16:9 aspect ratio and has 100% DCI-P3 colour gamut with Pantone validation as well.
The laptop also hosts a pair of 2.5W speakers with Dolby Atmos support for beefier audio when gaming as well as a full-sized mechanical keyboard with per-key RGB lighting.
Under the hood, the Gigabyte Aorus 18X comes with the Intel Core i9-14900HX processor paired with 32GB DDR5 RAM that can be upgraded on your own to 64GB. Storage is handled by a single 1TB SSD though it has an additional free M.2 SSD slot for you to augment storage as needed.
On the graphics front, it’s well appointed with an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4080 laptop GPU with 12GB GDDR6 vRAM and a maximum 175W TGP along with support for NVIDIA Optimus.
Keeping the whole affair powered is a 99Wh Li-Polymer battery via a 330W AC adapter capable of 100W power delivery. In Malaysia, the Gigabyte Aorus 17X retails for RM14,499.
Gigabyte Aorus 16X Specs and Price
A more compact laptop form factor, the Aorus 16X comes in three variants for the Malaysia market. The top of the line Aorus 16X variant features a 16-inch WQXGA (2,560 x 1,600 pixels) resolution display with a 165Hz refresh rate, 400 nits peak brightness and NVIDIA G-SYNC support.
It isn’t as colour accurate as the larger 17X with about 100% sRGB though it does have Pantone validation. Under the hood, it comes with a 14th Gen Intel Core i9-14900HX, 32GB DDR5 RAM upgradable to 64GB after purchase and a 1TB SSD with a spare M.2 SSD slot for upgrades as well as an NVIDIA RTX 4080 laptop GPU with 8GB GDDR6 vRAM and 140W TGP along with support for NVIDIA Advanced Optimus.
Other mod-cons include a three-zone RGB backlit keyboard along with a pair of 2W stereo speakers that have Dolby Atmos support. Keeping it juiced is a 99Wh Li-Polymer battery charged via a 240W AC adapter with 100W Power Delivery.
A more affordable variant also exists which has the same chassis, display and 3-zone RGB-backlit keyboard but uses a 14th Gen Intel Core i7-14650HX processor, 16GB DDR5 RAM and an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 laptop GPU with 8GB GDDR6 vRAM and 140W TGP.
In Malaysia, the Gigabyte 16X with i9-14900HX retails for RM9,289 while the Intel Core i7-14650HX variant retails for RM8,259. The most affordable variant features the same display and uses the 14th Gen Intel Core i7-14650HX processor, uses the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4060 GPU with 140W TGP, features 16GB DDR5 RAM and 1 TB SSD. This version retails for RM7,119.
