Klipsch’s new Heritage speakers blend old-school looks with cutting edge audio
Walk into your average electronics store these days looking for a pair of decent speakers and you are besieged with a psychedelic array of neon glowing abominations that resemble the horrific lovechild of a disco light show and a dump truck. Not so these classic looking beauties from Klipsch that combine the classic good looks of speakers in the golden age of audio with cutting edge wireless connectivity that lets you pipe tunes off your usual music streaming services like Spotify, Pandora, Tidal and the like or straight off your phone or slate.
Dubbed the Heritage series, these modern classics consist of the eponymous One, Three and the Sixes, each one in ascending order of power and performance though all sport a lustrous wood veneer and classic looking copper dials and buttonry.
The Heritage One is a highly portable brick-sized 2.1 speaker system that is professionally Klipsch-tuned and incorporates a pair of 2 ¼-inch full range drivers and a 4.5-inch woofer with a combined 30W of power to kick out some serious music wirelessly via Bluetooth 4.0 or the built-in 3.5mm audio jack for up to 8 hours.
Pairing is an absolute doddle and on top of wireless connectivity it also offers up to 8 hours of playback time off the built-in battery before needing a charge off the mains. It comes in your choice of either a shade of walnut or ebony for RM1,399.
Klipsch Heritage Three
The Heritage Three is a step up with even beefier audio and even more connectivity options. Sized to the dimensions of a hefty shoebox, the Three has native support for 192kHz/24-bit audio so it’ll allow your high resolution tracks to show their magic.
Crammed into the casing are two dual 2 ¼ – inch full range drivers complemented by a 5.25-inch long throw woofer and a pair of 5.25-inch dual opposed passive radiators. The Three also includes the proverbial kitchen sink for connectors inlucindg analog, 3.5mm miniplug, phono pre-amp and USB Type B audio on top of Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. The Three retails for RM2,299 and also in walnut and ebony.
Heritage The Sixes
If you absolutely, positively need to bring the house down in style, you’ll appreciate the massive Heritage The Sixes that consist of a pair of a one-inch titanium-hewn tweeter on Tractrix horns for immensely precise acoustics and 6 ½-inch long throw woofers with a ported design that lets you get the most out of 192kHz/24-bit high resolution audio tracks.
Integrated Bluetooth connectivity, a 3.5mm mini plug, a phono pre-amp, an RCA Analog, a USB Type B and an Optical out cover the bases. There’s no price tag on this sonic behemoth yet or a launch date but we’ll let you know when we do.
