MSI Claw gaming handheld joins the fray with Intel Core Ultra CPU and H2 2024 launch date
CES 2024 is certainly a bumper year for MSI. Alongside the debut of their new line-up of 18-inch gaming laptops with Intel 14th Gen processors and more, they also revealed that they will be launching a gaming handheld that they’ve dubbed as the MSI Claw to rival its existing contenders like the Lenovo Legion, ROG Ally and the Steamdeck.
What is the MSI Claw
Befitting its name, the MSI Claw has an ergonomic design that makes it easier to hold for extended periods while weighing about 675g. The MSI Claw runs Windows 11 under the hood overlaid with their own MSI Center M software for easier navigation.
In terms of hardware, it hosts a 7-inch FHD 120Hz touch IPS LCD display up front and up to an Intel Core Ultra 7 155H processor, up to 16GB LPDDR5 storage, up to a 1TB SSD and Intel Arc graphics with reliance on Intel XeSS upscaling tech to offer smoother gameplay for selected games. To augment storage, the Claw has a microSD slot, a 3.5mm audio jack and a Thunderbolt 4 port too.
Keeping the MSI Claw powered is a 53Whr battery that is rated for two hours of battery life under intensive gaming which is par for the course for something this compact playing Cyberpunk 2077 on the go. According to IGN, the MSI Claw will cost from USD$699 though availability for Malaysia and local pricing, or for that matter, if it will arrive here have yet to be determined. One can hope of course and if it does you lot will be the first to know!
