Sharing the same flagship Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy processor, camera setup, and One UI 7 software as the Galaxy S25, the Plus model brings to the table a larger display, a bigger battery with faster wired charging, and the same AI-powered refinements that define Samsung’s latest flagship phone series.
Fresh off its Malaysia launch, here’s our Samsung Galaxy S25 Plus first look, where we dive into the design, hardware, and overall user experience of this intriguing middle child in Samsung’s flagship lineup for 2025.
Samsung Galaxy S25 Plus First Look – Build and Design
Table of Contents
The Samsung Galaxy S25+ is a thoughtful blend of design elements, borrowing from the top-of-the-line Galaxy S25 Ultra and the standard Galaxy S25. Priced at RM4,999 for the base 256GB model and RM5,599 for the 512GB version, the Galaxy S25 Plus aims to strike the finely tuned balance of performance, features, and value.
At first glance, the Galaxy S25 Plus appears nearly identical to its predecessor, the Galaxy S24 Plus, maintaining the familiar flat front and back, rounded corners, and clean design language.
However, Samsung has fine-tuned the dimensions, making the Galaxy S25+ slimmer, lighter, and more compact. Weighing in at just 190g, it is 6g lighter, 0.4mm thinner, and slightly smaller overall compared to the Galaxy S24 Plus.
The rear of the device features a vertically aligned triple-camera array comprising a 50MP main sensor with OIS, a 12MP camera with an ultra-wide lens, and a 10MP telephoto lens with 3x optical zoom.
This setup mirrors the camera system on the standard Galaxy S25. The backplate also includes a wireless charging coil, supporting 15W wireless charging and reverse wireless charging—identical to its smaller sibling.
The Galaxy S25 Plus continues to use premium materials, including Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2 on the front and back, along with an Armor Aluminum 2 chassis, ensuring enhanced durability against drops and scratches. The phone is also IP68-rated, offering resistance to dust and water immersion up to 1.5 meters for 30 minutes.
For this Samsung Galaxy S25 Plus first look, our review unit came in a striking Silver Shadow finish, a metallic grey satin that resists fingerprints but feels subdued compared to more vibrant options like Navy or Mint. Online-exclusive colors such as Pinkgold and Coralred provide additional variety for those seeking a unique aesthetic.
Samsung Galaxy S25 Plus First Look – Display and Audio
On the front, the Galaxy S25 Plus features a 6.7-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X display with QHD+ resolution (1,440 x 3,120 pixels), a variable refresh rate of 1-120Hz, and a peak brightness of 2,600 nits.
While the display retains the same size and specifications as its predecessor, it remains a class-leading panel that offers exceptional clarity, brightness, and smoothness. A 12MP selfie camera is housed in a punch-hole cutout, identical to last year’s model and shared across the entire Galaxy S25 lineup.
The audio experience is bolstered by stereo speakers, with one speaker positioned at the base and the other discreetly integrated into the top edge. The power and volume buttons are conveniently located on the right side, while the bottom edge houses the USB-C port, nano SIM tray, and a speaker grille.
As usual, accessories are rather sparse with Samsung only issuing a USB-C cable with a SIM eject pin and warranty paperwork in the box.
Samsung Galaxy S25 Plus First Look – Hardware and Performance
Where the Galaxy S25 Plus truly shines is under the hood. Powering the device is the custom Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy chipset, featuring a 4.47GHz prime core and an enhanced GPU for superior performance compared to standard Snapdragon 8 Elite variants. This is paired with 12GB of LPDDR5X RAM as standardand either 256GB or 512GB of UFS 4.0 storage, delivering swift multitasking and ample space for apps and media.
