Sony’s Extra Bass equipped audio speakers and headphones aim to bring the boom
Sony’s new emphasis on bringing on deeper, richer, stronger bass was put in motion today with a showcase of their latest gear that packs their ‘Extra Bass’ tech at the centre concourse at Midvalley Megamall that also showcased their latest tellies, phones and PS4 hardware and accessories.
If by happenstance you have need of a honking huge set of speakers that can literally bring the house down, you’ll immediately gravitate towards Sony’s absolutely massive GTK-XB7 speaker. The massive speaker is knee height and weighs about 12kg though it’s still man-portable on account of a carrying handle.
The speakers are able to work standing up or lying down and come with NFC, Bluetooth connectivity along with Sony’s Extra Bass tech for better bass along with ClearAudio+ tech and DSEE upscaling to jazz up tunes to sound better on it’s massive speaker setup. Just to spice things up, the GTK-XB7 also has an integrated set of LEDs so you can create your own lighting effects that include an obligatory strobe light for that dance floor feel along with pulsing shades of neon lighting around the edges. The GTK-XB7 can be had for RM1,199
If you have a smaller house and more modest aspirations in terms of sonically terrifying the neighbours, you can opt for the semi-shoebox sized SRS-XB3 that’s water resistant, wireless, has 24 hours of battery life and also integrates Sony’s Extra Bass tech to kick out beefier bass on it’s pair of speakers and dual passive radiators. The SRS-XB3 comes in a choice of five colours – orange, a shade of khaki, lime green, dark green and blue for RM499.
If you need something you can bung into your backpack for some impromptu music playing hijinks, you can opt for the more compact SRS-XB2 that has the same tech as the XB3, including water resistance along with it’s Extra Bass tech for punchier bass though in a smaller size with a still substantial 12 hours of battery life and one less passive radiator on account of it’s compact size for RM339.
For more personal listening, Sony also showcased the on-ear MDR-XB650BT headphones that – surprise – also come with their Extra Bass drivers that work with the can’s 30mm drivers and a dedicated bass diaphgram for some sumptuously thumpy sound straight to your ears. The MDR-XB650BT also has Bluetooth connectivity, NFC and integrates AAC and aptX Bluetooth codecs for top-shelf audio quality. The headphones offer 30 hours of playback before needing a juicing. It costs RM549 and comes in five different colours.
If all this aural awesomeness piques your interest, you can saunter on over to centre court at Midvalley Court where Sony is great discounts from 15% to 20% for all the aforementioned gear until this 14 August, Sunday.
