Asus Vivobook Pro 16X 3D OLED with 3D display showcased at CES 2023
Alongside the top of the line content creator oriented Asus ProArt Studiobook 16 3D OLED laptop, Asus also launched the Vivobook Pro 16X 3D OLED laptop at CES 2023 that is surprisingly similar under the hood.
What is the Asus Vivobook Pro 16X 3D OLED
On paper, the Asus Vivobook Pro 16X 3D OLED is technically part of their affordable Vivobook line-up but which has the notable upgrade of a 16-inch 3D OLED display that has the same Spatial Vision 3D lenticular display tech as the higher end ProArt Studiobook 16 3D OLED along with almost similar specifications and an identical 150W TDP too for its CPU and GPU. The chassis itself is also rated for MIL-STD-810H levels of toughness too.
In terms of pure hardware, the Asus Vivobook Pro 16X 3D OLED aka model K6604 has a 16-inch 3D OLED 3.2K (3,200 x 2,000 pixels) resolution OLED display with a tall 16:10 aspect ratio, a 120Hz refresh rate and 100% DCI-P3 colour gamut as well as Pantone validation which makes it ideal for content creators. Should a 3D OLED display be considered too lavish, Asus also issues the laptop with a more affordable 2.5K non-3D non-touch 165Hz OLED display.
The laptop also has the ability to pack up to a similar 13th Gen Intel Core i9-13980HX 2.2GHz processor with up to an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 GPU with 8GB GDDR6 vRAM along with a 90Whr 4-cell lithium-ion battery. Additional mod-cons include fast WiFi 6E and dual Thunderbolt 4 ports.
Where it differs from the higher end ProArt though is the fact that it’s far less expandable. It ships by default with 16GB DDR5 RAM but the two on-board SO-DIMM slots let you upgrade it to 64GB. It also only has one SSD slot which is occupied by a 1TB M.2 NMVe PCIe 4.0 SSD.
Another differentiation in terms of hardware is that it has slightly less efficient IceCool Pro cooling tech with 83-bladed dual cooling fans versus the pricier ProArt 16 3D OLED’s 103-bladed cooling fans. The Vivobook also ditches the physical Asus Dial for a virtual DialPad inset into the touchpad.
The rest of its external differences with the ProArt Studiobook are cosmetic in nature with a different chassis design in keeping with the Vivobook marque, as well as a slightly lighter and thinner chassis in your choice of either a creamy white or black colourway depending on region.
In essence, the Asus Vivobook Pro 16X 3D OLED has a similar mission profile as the ProArt Studiobook 16 3D OLED but pares expandability, cooling and a few other features down to make it more affordable though by how much is not clear just yet as Asus did not reveal any prices for their showcased products at CES 2023.
